Islamabad’s Scenic Monal Restaurant to be Converted into Wildlife Center

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) is planning to convert Monal Restaurant into a Wildlife Educational Centre in order to raise awareness about the protection and preservation of the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP).

According to the specifics, the IWMB has created a proposal to build this centre, which will now be presented to the appropriate forum for final approval.

The climate change ministry has already praised the court’s decision to close down Monal Restaurant, and it is likely to back the idea for the development of this centre.

The IWMB has also decided to serve notices on two more restaurants that remain open near the protected MHNP.

According to a climate change ministry official, efforts are underway to recover the area of the national park that has been illegally occupied by locals and builders for residential and commercial uses.

He stated that the court’s judgment would substantially aid in improving biodiversity, promoting flora and wildlife, and restoring the national park’s ecology.

“Old Islamabad Zoo is being converted into a wildlife park with a separate rescue center for injured animal species,” stated the IWMB chairperson.
