‘It May Have Been Misrepresentation of Events’ RT India Deletes X Post About PM Shehbaz ‘Waiting to Meet’ Putin

RT India has removed a social media post after admitting that it gave a wrong picture of events involving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The post had claimed that the Pakistani prime minister was made to wait before meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin. Later, RT India clarified that the claim was inaccurate and described it as a misrepresentation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was in Ashgabat to attend a multilateral international forum, where he met several world leaders.

During the visit, he held meetings with President Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and other senior leaders. Pakistani officials said these meetings were held as scheduled and took place in a friendly and respectful environment.

After the post circulated online, it drew criticism for spreading misleading information. In response, RT India deleted the post and acknowledged that it did not correctly reflect what had happened. Multiple sources confirmed that there was no delay or disrespect during the meetings.

The Russian embassy also addressed the issue, confirming that the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Putin was timely and cordial. Officials from Pakistan described the discussions as positive, constructive, and focused on mutual interests and cooperation.

The incident highlights how quickly incorrect information can spread on social media and the importance of verifying facts before sharing claims. Pakistani authorities emphasized that the prime minister was treated with full protocol and respect during the international gathering.
