The Ministry of IT and Telecom has announced a structured timeline for introducing 5G services across Pakistan.
Telecom operators are expected to begin rolling out the next-generation technology starting July 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation.
According to official details shared in Parliament, the process will kick off with expert recommendations being submitted to the Spectrum Advisory Committee by February. These will focus on critical areas like spectrum pricing, trading frameworks, and tax policies.
In March, the committee will finalize necessary reforms, ensuring the telecom industry is well-prepared for the transition. The federal government will approve the policy directive by April, and the auctioning of key frequency bands—3500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 700 MHz—will take place in May.
The launch of 5G services is expected to bring faster connectivity, support innovation, and open doors to economic opportunities in Pakistan.
With a clear timeline in place, the Ministry aims to position the country as a leader in adopting advanced digital technologies. The coming months will be crucial as the groundwork is laid for the nationwide rollout of 5G, offering hope for a more connected and digitally empowered future.
