United Kingdom has officially restricted the international students studying in England from bringing their families. Suella Braverman in the wake of increasing immigrants’ pressure on home secretary released proposals on Tuesday stating the constraint on overseas’ students. The families will only be allowed under specific circumstances or the students enrolled in research-based masters or PhD programmes can be given the relaxation.
The restriction might have a substantial effect on the large number of international Indian and Pakistani students residing in the UK in undergraduate and taught master’s courses. The policy is subjected to commence from January 2024 and has raised concerns about the future of students.
Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister commented about the policy stating that it can significantly reduce migration statistics.
