Japanese engineers have successfully tested a space rocket engine powered by cow poop. The startup, Interstellar Technologies Inc., announced that they ignited the engine, named ZERO, in a 10-second test in Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island.
The rocket runs on liquid biomethane, made from cow dung obtained from local dairy farms in Hokkaido.
A video on the social media platform X displays the engine firing up, shooting a hot blue flame horizontally. This innovative use of cow poop as fuel represents a unique and eco-friendly approach to space exploration.
