Japan has introduced a futuristic “human washing machine,” which is now available for purchase at a price of around $385,000. Created by the Japanese company Science, this pod-shaped machine lets a person lie down inside while it gently washes their body.
The device does not spin like a regular washing machine. Instead, it gives a soft, relaxing cleanse while calming music plays in the background. Special sensors inside the pod check the user’s heartbeat and other vital signs to ensure comfort and safety.
The machine can wash and dry a person in only 15 minutes, making the process fast and convenient. It was first revealed at the 2025 Osaka Expo, where it attracted huge crowds because of its unique concept and technology. The positive response encouraged the company to begin commercial production.
The first machine has already been bought by a hotel in Osaka, aiming to offer guests a new and surprising experience. Electronics retailer Yamada Denki has also placed an order, showing growing interest from businesses.
However, the company plans to keep production limited to about 50 units, making the machine a rare and exclusive product.
Experts say that this invention could be especially useful for elderly care, hospitals, and people with mobility issues, as it provides a comfortable and safe way to be cleaned without physical effort. The launch of this machine reflects Japan’s continuous focus on innovation, smart living, and advanced robotics.
With its mix of technology, comfort, and novelty, the “human washing machine” may signal a new direction for personal care in the future.
