The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) has opened applications for Pakistani students and candidates from other developing countries. This scholarship allows students to pursue master’s degrees abroad with full financial support, including tuition, living costs, travel, and insurance.
What the Scholarship Covers
Selected students will receive full funding for their studies. This includes tuition fees, return airfare, a monthly stipend for living expenses, books, local travel costs, and basic health insurance. These benefits allow students to focus entirely on their studies without financial concerns.
The scholarship is valid for any of the 44 approved master’s programs including Economic Policy Management, Public Administration, Infrastructure Management, Governance & Development and more, offered at partner universities across the United States, Europe, Japan, Oceania, Africa, and other regions.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, candidates must first secure unconditional admission to a participating master’s program. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree earned at least three years prior and have at least three years of full-time work experience in development-related fields. They must be citizens of a World Bank member developing country, like Pakistan, and should not hold dual citizenship with a developed country.
Purpose of the Scholarship
The program aims to prepare professionals who will contribute to development in their home countries. After completing their studies, recipients are expected to return home and apply their skills in areas such as economic policy, public administration, infrastructure, public health, sustainable development, and other growth-oriented sectors.
Application Timeline and Required Documents
Applications open in two windows: January 15 to February 27, 2026, and March 30 to May 29, 2026. Applicants should prepare admission letters, academic transcripts, proof of employment, CVs, recommendation letters, and a statement of purpose.
