Kamran Tessori to be Removed as Governor Sindh, Nehal Hashmi Nominated As New Governor

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has nominated senior PML-N leader Nihal Hashmi as the new Governor of Sindh. The summary for his appointment has been sent to President Asif Ali Zardari for approval. Following the nomination, the Prime Minister personally congratulated Hashmi on being chosen for the role.

This decision comes amid criticism of the current Governor, Kamran Tessori, over alleged political activities at the Governor House. Several political leaders and the Sindh Bar Council had raised concerns, saying these actions violated constitutional norms and the neutrality expected from the office of the Governor.

Nihal Hashmi, a former senator, brings experience in political leadership but also a controversial history. In 2018, he faced contempt of court charges, which led to a five-year disqualification from politics.

After completing the disqualification period, Hashmi resumed his political career and remained active in national politics, which ultimately positioned him for this nomination.

The appointment of Hashmi is expected to be a significant political development in Sindh, a province where the role of Governor has often attracted attention due to its constitutional importance and influence over provincial matters.

His nomination has already drawn public interest and political discussions, with many watching closely to see how the new appointment will impact governance and political dynamics in the province.

Once President Zardari gives approval, Nihal Hashmi will officially take over the responsibilities as Governor of Sindh, a position that requires maintaining the balance between political leadership and constitutional obligations.

This appointment marks another important step in the evolving political landscape of the province.
