The historic Kartarpur Gurdwara in Narowal has once again opened its doors after emergency operations successfully restored the sacred site.
Recently, the entire complex had been submerged under nearly 12 feet of floodwater, raising serious concerns for both its safety and the comfort of Sikh pilgrims visiting from around the world.
Following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, immediate action was taken. Special teams from Suthra Punjab, along with local government officials, worked day and night to pump out the water and clean the premises.
Their tireless efforts helped in not only draining the water but also rehabilitating the surroundings so that pilgrims could return safely.
During the peak of the flooding, rescue teams had quickly responded to the crisis by evacuating Sikh pilgrims using motorboats.
Their timely action ensured that visitors inside the gurdwara complex were moved to safer areas without harm. The cooperation between rescue services and government agencies highlighted the importance placed on protecting both the site and the people connected to it.
The restoration of Kartarpur Gurdwara holds deep significance. For Sikhs, it is one of the holiest places of worship, marking the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. Preserving its sanctity and accessibility was a top priority for the authorities.
Today, with the floodwater cleared and the gurdwara reopened, the site once again stands as a symbol of faith, resilience, and commitment. The swift response to protect and restore this sacred landmark will be remembered as an important moment of service and respect.
