Kashmir Solidarity Day Being Observed Today in Pakistan

Today, on Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed annually, the country stands united in expressing unwavering support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people in seeking their right to self-determination, as mandated by United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Both the people and the government of Pakistan, along with Azad Jammu and Kashmir, take part in this day to demonstrate solidarity with the residents of India-held Jammu and Kashmir. The primary aim is to reaffirm their commitment to liberate Kashmir from Indian control.

Throughout the nation, individuals from various backgrounds come together to organize demonstrations and form human chains, intending to boost the morale of the Kashmiri population that has been engaged in a prolonged struggle for freedom. In messages delivered on this occasion, President Dr. Arif Alvi and caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar reiterated the nation’s strong support for the Kashmir cause and the people of India-held Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Alvi underscored the significance of the right to self-determination in international law. He lamented the fact that Kashmiris have been unable to exercise this fundamental right, especially given the challenging conditions prevailing in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where militarization has instilled fear among the Kashmiri populace.

President Alvi pledged continued moral, diplomatic, and political support from Pakistan until the Kashmiri people attain their right to self-determination in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. Prime Minister Kakar drew attention to India’s illegal actions in Kashmir since August 5, 2019, which he argued violate international law and relevant UN resolutions. He emphasized that Kashmir Solidarity Day also serves as a moment to honor the sacrifices made by Kashmiris over the past 76 years.

Kakar further asserted that Pakistan firmly believes that a lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute can only be achieved by adhering to UN Security Council resolutions and respecting the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan, he affirmed, will persist in providing unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for this just cause.
