Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moves Towards Becoming Pakistan’s First Cashless Province

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has directed the Chief Secretary to start the “Cashless Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” initiative without any delay. The goal is to shift businesses towards digital payments, making financial transactions more transparent and reducing reliance on cash.

This initiative is expected to bring many benefits to the province. By promoting digital payments, it will help businesses operate more efficiently, improve tax collection, and attract investment in financial technology (fintech). The government believes this step will modernize the economy and create a more business-friendly environment.

Another major advantage of this move is the reduction of corruption and financial mismanagement. By keeping records of all transactions digitally, the chances of illegal activities and misuse of funds will decrease. This will contribute to a more transparent and accountable financial system in the province.

If successfully implemented, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will become the first cashless province in Pakistan. This means people and businesses will rely entirely on digital transactions instead of physical cash. The transition will require businesses and the public to adopt online banking, mobile wallets, and other digital payment methods.

The government plans to work closely with banks, fintech companies, and businesses to ensure a smooth shift to a cashless system. Awareness campaigns and training programs will likely be introduced to help people adapt to the new digital economy.

With this initiative, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is taking a major step towards financial modernization. If implemented effectively, it could serve as a model for other provinces in Pakistan, leading to a more efficient and transparent financial system across the country.
