The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has canceled the no-objection certificates (NOCs) for hotels and commercial plots that were planned but not yet built along riverbanks. This step has been taken to improve public safety, especially after the recent floods in areas such as Swat, Malakand, and Hazara.
According to the directions of the Chief Secretary, the Director General of the Land Use and Building Control Authority has told all Chief Planning Control Officers to stop any construction work on projects that have not started yet. From now on, fresh NOCs will only be granted under the new Building Control Regulations 2024, which are designed to ensure safer planning and better protection for communities living near riverbanks.
