KP has Highest Unemployment Rate among provinces: Survey

PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province claims a nationwide decline in the unemployment rate, posting an 8.8 percent unemployment rate among the four provinces in fiscal 202021.

The Force Survey (LFS) published by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed that the unemployment rate in Pakistan improved from 6.9% in 2018 to 6.3% in 202021. The unemployment rate rose to 8.8 percent in 2020-21.

Although the unemployment rate in KP remained at 10.3 percent in fiscal year 201819, if you compare the unemployment rate in KP with 2017-18, it was 7.2 percent. It shows that the unemployment rate in KP increased in 2020-21 compared to the fiscal year 201718. However, it has improved compared to fiscal 2018-19.

According to the LFS, the unemployment rate in KP was 8.6 percent in 2012-13, which means it has risen from 8.6 percent to 8.8 percent over the past nine years.

The PTI-led government did not control the unemployment rate, but won a majority and formed a government in the province for the second time by winning the last general election in 2018.
