Lahore High Court Grants Relief to Babar Azam in Harassment Case

The Lahore High Court has granted relief to Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam by overturning a sessions court order that had directed police to register a harassment case against him.

The decision was announced by Justice Asjad Gharal, who accepted the petition filed by Babar Azam. The court declared the earlier order from the sessions court null and void, stating that proper legal procedures were not followed before directing the registration of a case.

The complaint was originally filed in 2018 by Hamiza Mukhtar. She had accused the cricketer of harassment and other serious allegations. However, Babar Azam’s legal team argued that the claims were baseless and linked to a financial dispute.

During the hearing, the defense lawyer said the complaint lacked solid evidence and that the sessions court issued the order without fully reviewing the legal requirements needed to register a First Information Report.

The High Court agreed that the lower court had not properly examined the matter before issuing its directive. Because of this, the order to register a case was cancelled.

Babar Azam is one of Pakistan’s most well-known cricketers and has served as captain of the national team in different formats.

The court’s decision has temporarily closed this legal matter unless further proceedings are initiated through proper legal channels.
