Lahore to Rawalpindi Bullet Train Could Reduce Travel Time to 2.5 Hours

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has given her approval for two major new projects: the launch of Air Punjab and the development of a bullet train service between Lahore and Rawalpindi. These projects aim to improve transportation options within the province and offer faster, more convenient travel for the public.

The bullet train project is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Lahore and Rawalpindi. Once completed, the journey, which currently takes several hours by car or traditional trains, will be cut down to just 2.5 hours. This high-speed rail service will make it much easier for people to move quickly between two of Punjab’s most important cities, supporting both business and personal travel.

In addition to the bullet train, Air Punjab will soon begin offering domestic flights within Pakistan. The new airline will start with a fleet of four Airbus planes that have been leased for initial operations. After completing one year of successful domestic service, Air Punjab plans to expand its operations internationally, providing more travel options for people within and outside the country.

The bullet train project will be developed through a public-private partnership, meaning that both the government and private companies will work together to fund and manage it. This approach is expected to bring in investment, ensure better services, and speed up the completion of the project.

Moreover, the government is not stopping with just one high-speed rail line. Feasibility studies are currently being carried out for six additional bullet train routes across different parts of Punjab. If these projects move forward, it will completely transform the transportation network in the province, making travel faster, easier, and more comfortable for everyone.

These developments mark a major step forward in modernizing Punjab’s infrastructure and are expected to contribute to the region’s economic growth and development in the years to come
