A wild leopard has once again been spotted near the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, marking the third sighting this month.
The animal was captured on CCTV footage, which quickly spread online and raised safety concerns among students and nearby residents.
The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) confirmed the sighting and said that teams are actively working to handle the situation. Trap cages have been placed in the area to safely capture the leopard and relocate it back to its natural habitat.
Authorities are also working closely with the university administration to ensure safety measures are in place. Students and staff have been advised to avoid isolated areas, especially at night, and report any unusual activity immediately.
Wildlife experts explain that such incidents are not entirely new. Leopards living in the nearby Margalla Hills sometimes move toward urban areas.
They often use green belts, forest patches, and drainage routes to travel, especially during nighttime when human activity is low.
Experts believe that habitat pressure and food search can push these animals closer to the city. They emphasize the need for awareness and calm response, as leopards usually avoid humans unless threatened.
