Lionel Messi was honored as FIFA’s best men’s player for 2023, securing his third win of the prestigious award. The ceremony took place in London on Monday, highlighting Messi’s exceptional contributions to football.
Interestingly, Messi outshone competitors, including Erling Haaland, adding to the celebration for Manchester City. It’s noteworthy that Messi’s performance for the award was considered from December 2022, when he led Argentina to World Cup victory, to August 2023.
While Messi’s time at Paris Saint-Germain concluded on a relatively subdued note, despite clinching the Ligue 1 title, he made a significant move to MLS side Inter Miami in June.
In the United States, Messi swiftly left an impact, aiding Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, in securing their first trophy by winning the Leagues Cup in August. The recognition reflects Messi’s enduring influence and success on the football stage.
