Lucid Motors Group, a US-based company, is looking to expand its operations in Saudi Arabia by increasing its production capacity for electric cars. While their current activities in Saudi Arabia involve assembling cars and manufacturing certain components in their Jeddah plant, they have ambitious plans to transition towards full-scale car manufacturing at this location.
Initially, their production capacity stands at around 5,000 cars per year, but Lucid Motors Group is determined to ramp up production significantly in the near future.
Alongside this expansion, they are also eyeing the Saudi Arabian market for the launch of their latest SUV model, the Gravity, following its introduction in the US.
Since the opening of their plant in September 2023, the company has demonstrated its potential by achieving an output of approximately 50 cars during the first week of operation. Looking ahead, Lucid Motors Group aims to achieve an annual production target of about 155,000 cars in Saudi Arabia, indicating a substantial scaling-up of their manufacturing capabilities in the region.
This endeavor represents a significant milestone for Lucid Motors Group as it marks their sole manufacturing facility outside the US. Through this expansion initiative, the company aims to capitalize on the growing demand for electric vehicles in the Saudi Arabian market while establishing a stronger foothold in the region’s automotive industry.
