A man has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake account of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and using the name to spread disinformation.
The development was announced by the Prime Minister’s digital media contact, Abubakar Umer, on Twitter.
In a tweet, Abubakar said: “Dispute is welcome. It’s not the misinformation.
The person behind this account (RameezRajaLive) was tracked down and arrested for impersonating the Prime Minister and misleading people.
He confessed, and a case was being registered of u/s 16, PECA 2016 r/w 419, 505 PPC”.
The fake Twitter account with more than 30,000 followers can no longer be found on the micro-blogging website.
Earlier this month, Abubakar was appointed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s honorary adviser on digital media.
