On Monday, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, announced a new plan to help female students in the province. She shared this idea during a meeting about improving transportation in the area. She stressed that it’s the government’s duty to make life easier for people, especially students. So, she asked the officials to come up with a plan to give free bus rides to female students in every tehsil (a small administrative area) in Punjab.
Also, during the meeting, the Punjab government approved a plan to introduce 657 buses that are better for the environment. These buses will improve transportation in big cities across the province. The Chief Minister was briefed about another project to bring in 20,000 electric bikes and 657 eco-friendly urban buses in Punjab.
In the first part of the plan, buses that run on a mix of diesel and electricity will start operating in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur. The bike project will kick off on May 9th. Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of making things easier financially for students, especially because many people are facing economic challenges right now.
