Maryam Nawaz Launches “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” Scheme to Provide Free Land to Punjab Farmers

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme to support farmers across Punjab.

Under this plan, cultivable government land will be leased to farmers free of cost for 10 years. Each selected farmer will receive up to five acres of land to grow crops and improve their income.

The scheme is expected to begin from April. According to the announcement, more than 250,000 acres of land will be distributed in different districts of the province. The main goal is to increase agricultural production and create job opportunities in rural areas.

Farmers who receive land will also be given financial support so they can start cultivation without delay. This includes help for seeds, fertilizers, and other basic farming needs.

Officials say this support will allow small and landless farmers to enter agriculture and become financially stable.

The program is linked with the government’s wider efforts to modernize farming. Under the Green Tractor Scheme Phase III, tractors will be provided to farmers at subsidized rates to improve efficiency and crop yield. The use of modern tools and better farming methods is expected to raise overall production.

Agriculture plays a key role in Punjab’s economy, providing income to millions of families. By offering free land and financial help, the government aims to strengthen the rural economy and reduce poverty.

If implemented properly, the scheme could help many farmers increase their earnings and contribute more to the province’s food supply.
