Massive Drop in Petrol Price in Pakistan Expected from 16th March

Pakistanis may soon get much-needed relief as petrol and diesel prices are expected to drop significantly in the upcoming fuel price revision. Reports suggest that petrol prices could decrease by up to Rs12 per litre, while high-speed diesel might see a reduction of Rs8 per litre.

The expected price cut comes at a time when inflation in the country has started to ease. Citizens are hopeful that the government will approve the proposed reduction to provide financial relief amid rising living costs. The revised fuel prices will be officially announced on the night of March 15 and will take effect from March 16.

Industry sources indicate that the decline in global oil prices and domestic economic factors have contributed to this possible reduction. If implemented, the petrol price could drop from its current rate of Rs255.63 per litre to approximately Rs247.63 per litre, while diesel may fall to Rs246.64 per litre.

Meanwhile, discussions between oil companies and regulators continue over local refineries’ supply agreements, which may impact future pricing policies. Despite these challenges, consumers remain optimistic that the government will approve the new rates, bringing relief to millions across the country.
