Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Official Facebook Account Hacked

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who leads the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), had his official Facebook account hacked. The cyberattack came from the Philippines and allowed the hackers to take control of his Facebook page, which has over 1 million followers. Aslam Ghauri, the spokesperson for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F), confirmed that the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit is working to regain control of the hijacked Facebook page.

This incident follows a recent discovery on August 25 when security agencies uncovered an attempt to hack the mobile phones of senior government officials. These agencies, acting on information from the Prime Minister’s House, stopped efforts to access sensitive data by sending mobile hacking links through WhatsApp, pretending to be high-ranking officials.

In response, the Prime Minister’s Office has advised government officials to stay alert and not respond to suspicious messages. They have also instructed officials to report any dubious messages promptly to the Cabinet Division.
