Social media spheres surfaced a medical student who was working as a clown at night on Lahore’s Mall Road has gone viral. Because of her hard work and determination, this woman’s story is uplifting, but it also illustrates a painful truth about our country.
Saima had dressed up as a clown and was selling artefacts on the streets of Lahore. After her father and brother died when she was a little girl. Now she had the added responsibilities of caring for her ill mother.
Why is Saima going to such lengths to manage her schooling and finances? Because the other family member is sick, Saima is the only one left to earn money in her family. Saima’s only remaining family member is her ill mother. The medical student cum clown works all hours of the day and night to provide enough money for her mother’s food and medications.
Her father and brother had already been taken from her due to poverty. Only Saima and her mother now share a home. She claims that her work on the streets is quite difficult. It’s not easy to wear this outfit in this heat and execute numerous gimmicks simply to get a modest laugh out of folks. She does it so that they can be ‘generous’ and give money away.
A Punjab government spokesman acknowledged that her mother’s care will be investigated by a medical board, and she will receive treatment. The cost will be covered by the CM.
