Metorite Hits Woman in France While She Was Having Coffee on Terrace

In a strange incident in a small town called Schirmeck in northeastern France, a woman had a surprising experience while having coffee with her friend on a terrace. She was hit by a small meteorite. At first, she was very shocked because it made a loud noise and hit her ribs, making her think it might be an animal.

Curious about what hit her, she asked a roofer for help. After examining the object, the roofer thought it could be a meteorite because it didn’t look like cement. To be sure, the woman asked a geologist named Thierry Rebmann for his opinion. He studied the rock and found that it was made of iron and silicon, which made him believe that it was indeed a meteorite. The pieces they found weighed about 4 ounces.

It’s very rare for people to be hit by meteorites, even though about 50 tons of meteoritic material falls to Earth every day. Most of it ends up in the oceans. Meteorites are rocks from space that survive the journey through Earth’s atmosphere and reach the ground. It can be hard to identify them on land because they often look like regular rocks. However, in places like deserts, it may be easier to spot them.
