Pilgrims have started their journey to Mina, a city in Saudi Arabia, using different means of transportation like walking or taking buses. Mina is famous for its large tent city and will be the temporary home for millions of pilgrims during the 8th, 11th, and 12th days of the Islamic lunar month of Dhu Al Hijjah, which is the time of the Hajj pilgrimage.
Mina is located around 5 kilometers to the east of the Grand Mosque, and it covers a vast area with over 100,000 air-conditioned tents. These tents, which occupy a total space of 2.5 million square meters, can accommodate more than 2.6 million people. The tents come in three different sizes: eight square meters, six by eight meters, and twelve by eight meters. Moreover, well-lit corridors are present and clearly marked to help the pilgrims move around and find their way easily.
