On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed draconian austerity measures as the country tried to reduce spending in the face of severe economic hardship.
He announced that none of the ministers, special assistants, or advisers will get pay or benefits during a press conference with other members of the government.
He stated that they will pay their utility bills out of “their own pockets”.
“All expensive vehicles driven by Cabinet members will be put up for sale, and only one vehicle will be provided when security is needed,” he stated. Also, they will take local and international flights in economy class.
