Mobile, Internet Services Suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi Due to Security Concerns

Mobile and internet services have been suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved the decision due to security concerns. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been directed to temporarily shut down 3G and 4G services in both cities until further notice.

Officials stated that the suspension aims to prevent any potential law and order situation and ensure public safety during ongoing security operations. Residents have reported weak or no signals across major areas, affecting mobile communication, online transactions, and navigation apps.

Alongside the internet suspension, Metro Bus services in Rawalpindi have also been halted to limit public movement.

Several main roads, including routes leading to the Red Zone and key administrative buildings, have been sealed, and heavy contingents of police and Rangers have been deployed at sensitive points to maintain control and avoid unrest.

Authorities have advised citizens to stay at home unless travel is necessary and to follow official updates through television and radio.

Security agencies are said to be on high alert, closely monitoring developments and ensuring the safety of public and private property.

While such restrictions are temporary, they have caused inconvenience for commuters and businesses relying on digital connectivity.

However, officials insist that these measures are necessary to maintain peace and prevent any unwanted incidents in the twin cities. The restoration of mobile and internet services will be considered once the situation stabilizes and security agencies give clearance.
