As a precautionary measure for the ceremony to change the command, mobile phone service is still partially blocked in some parts of Rawalpindi, the garrison city.
According to reports in the local media, Metro bus services are also still suspended as of today at 3 p.m. (Tuesday).
General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the departing Chief of Army Staff, will shortly transfer the command stick to General Asim Munir, the newly appointed Army chief, during a ceremony marking the transition of command in the Pakistani Army being held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
It is pertinent to mention that General Asim Munir will be the 17th army chief to assume the command of the Pakistan Army.
