Moon Sighted in Pakistan, Eid-ul-Fitar to Be Celebrated Tomorrow

Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 Moon sighting Pakistan: Muslims in different parts of world and In Pakistan are celebrating the last Friday of Ramadan today, April 21.

One of Islam’s holiest and most auspicious festivals is Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as Eid al-Fitr. It is celebrated at the conclusion of Ramadan’s one-month-long fast (Roza). Ramadan, which means “festival of breaking the fast,” falls on the ninth and tenth days of the Islamic lunar calendar, respectively, and is followed by Shawwal.

Muslims commemorate Eid-al-Fitr on the first day of the Shawwal month. On the last day of Ramadan, Muslims observe the crescent Moon to usher in the month of Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr. The practise of sighting the Moon involves keeping an eye out for the crescent or new Moon to ascertain when the tenth Islamic month of Shawwal officially begins. Muslims can use telescopes or their own eyes to see the moon.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Yemen, Bahrain, Egypt, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Jordan and Iraq announced that they will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr today on Friday. In a statement made by the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, it was announced that Friday is the first day of the Eid after the moon of Shawwal was sighted.
