More Countries Eye Defence Agreements with Pakistan After Saudi Pact, Ishaq Dar

Pakistan’s recent defence agreement with Saudi Arabia is being called a historic milestone and could inspire similar deals with other countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishaq Dar revealed that several nations have expressed interest in signing agreements with Pakistan after seeing the Saudi pact.

The defence pact formalises Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to ensuring Saudi Arabia’s security. According to Dar, the agreement strengthens ties between the two countries and reflects Islamabad’s role as a reliable partner in regional security.

He described the deal as a landmark achievement that could have wider implications for Pakistan’s defence diplomacy in the region.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif emphasized that the agreement is purely defensive and is not aimed at any offensive action. He noted that Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability, and the pact is designed to provide mutual protection.

Asif also mentioned that similar agreements could potentially be extended to other Gulf states in the future, highlighting Pakistan’s willingness to collaborate on regional security matters.

The pact comes at a time when security and strategic alliances in the Gulf region are becoming increasingly important.

Analysts say Pakistan’s growing role in regional defence cooperation could enhance its international standing and open opportunities for partnerships with other countries.

While the details of the agreement have not been fully disclosed, officials insist that it focuses on defence coordination, training, and joint exercises rather than offensive operations.

The announcement has been welcomed by officials in both Islamabad and Riyadh as a step toward stronger cooperation and trust.

With interest from other nations already emerging, Pakistan’s defence diplomacy could enter a new phase, positioning the country as a key security partner in the Gulf and beyond.
