A motorcyclist in Lahore’s Shahdara Town was lucky to escape serious injury after falling into a pit full of rainwater on July 16. The incident happened in Rasul Park, where an open pit was left uncovered after sewerage work in the area.
CCTV footage of the accident shows the man riding his motorcycle when he suddenly fell into the deep pit hidden by rainwater. Thankfully, people living nearby saw what happened and rushed to help him. They managed to pull him out safely and gave him first aid.
This accident has made residents worried because it shows how dangerous these open pits can be, especially after rain. Even though the rain stopped several days ago, water is still standing in many streets of Shahdara Town. Areas like Muslim Park, Rajput Park, and Jhularan Road are badly affected by stagnant water.
People living in these neighborhoods say the standing water and open pits are putting everyone at risk. Children playing outside or people walking at night could easily fall in and get hurt. Many residents have asked the local authorities to cover such pits properly and remove the stagnant water as soon as possible to prevent more accidents.
Local people have also demanded better sewerage work and quick clean-up after rains. They hope the city officials will take action to fix these problems quickly so that no one else gets hurt in the future. Until then, residents are warning each other to stay alert while passing through these waterlogged streets.
