Former Chairman of the Ruyet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb urges people to take care of all parameters of Qurbani on Eid Al-Adha. During the Eid holidays, people sometimes have to wait for butchers for long times therefore, they forget some important rules of Qurbani as per the Shariyah.
While buying an animal for the Qurbani, Mufti Muneeb advises people to always make the animal walk and examine its legs, horns, and ears. Always look closely if a greater part of the horns is not removed. Carefully examining if one-third part of the ears is not damaged, is also an important task while finalizing the animal.
Moreover, upon bringing the animal home, if you find any defect, the people who are financially stable must buy a new animal however, those who cannot afford can sacrifice the same animal. The knife used for this purpose must be highly sharp so the animal does not suffer much.
It is better if the person whose Qurbani it is, slaughters the animal however, if the person cannot perform, a professional butcher can be appointed who must perform the sacrifice as per the Shariyah. Mufti Muneeb also highlighted an important parameter that usually Qasai put the knife on the throat and then on the abdominal area/kidney to perform Qurbani in a hurry, however, it is strictly prohibited.
