The crescent moon of Muharram 1447 AH has been seen in Pakistan, officially marking the start of the Islamic New Year. This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the moon was sighted. From today, the sacred month of Muharram has begun.
Muharram is one of the four holy months in Islam and is deeply respected by Muslims around the world. It holds great religious and historical importance, especially because of the tragic events of Karbala. During this month, Muslims remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who stood for justice and truth against tyranny.
Imam Hussain (RA), along with his family and companions, faced great hardship and were martyred in the battle of Karbala. This event is not only a sorrowful part of Islamic history but also a symbol of courage, faith, and standing up for what is right.
Many Muslims spend the month of Muharram in reflection, prayer, and mourning, especially on the 10th day, known as Ashura. Special gatherings, sermons, and processions are held to honor the memory of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.
As Muharram begins, it is a time to seek peace, remember history, and reflect on the values of justice, sacrifice, and patience. The Islamic New Year offers a moment for spiritual renewal and commitment to faith.
