Another famous smartphone application for Muslim prayer is monitoring the position of its users and selling data that ends up in the US government’s hands, a media report said.
According to Motherboard, an online magazine operated by the American-Canadian Vice Media company, Salaat First, an app that reminds Muslims when to pray, tracks and sells location data of its users.
A French firm named Predicio, which has been linked to a supply chain of data involving a US government contractor who has collaborated with a variety of US agencies, is the company collecting the location data.
Salaat First, which has been downloaded on Android more than 10 million times, can theoretically monitor the position of its Muslim users, including places of worship.
