NASA Spots Eerie Green Light on Jupiter and Captures Image

NASA’s Juno spacecraft has captured an intriguing green light emerging from Jupiter. Scientists believe that the eerie green fluorescence is the result of a lightning bolt at the north pole of the planet.

Juno Spacecraft took the image on the 31st close flyby on 30th December 2020. However, the image was released on Thursday by NASA. The spacecraft was situated at an approximate distance of 19,000 miles above Jupiter’s cloud tops.

NASA has further mentioned that the lightning in Jupiter results in clouds having ammonia water solution and is observed mostly near the poles as compared to the Earth where lightning occurs due to water clouds and is mostly observed at equator.
