Due to severe flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced an urgent airlift operation to rescue tourists stuck in the area.
A C-130 aircraft from the Pakistan Air Force will carry out the special rescue flight on Thursday, July 24 (today), to help both local and foreign tourists who are stranded because of blocked roads and heavy floods. Local officials have confirmed that all preparations are in place for this emergency operation.
Tourists who are waiting to be rescued have been asked to quickly share their complete details to secure a seat on the aircraft. They must submit their full name, their father’s or husband’s name, and their CNIC number as soon as possible so that their information can be added to the passenger list without any delay.
The Gilgit administration has also asked people to reach out to the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office if they need any help or have questions about the rescue flight. The local administration is working around the clock to make sure everyone who is stuck gets the support they need during this difficult time.
The heavy flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan has caused roads to close and left many tourists unable to travel back safely by road. This special airlift operation is an important step to make sure they can return home quickly and safely.
Authorities have urged people to stay calm, cooperate with the rescue teams, and follow the instructions given by officials to make the airlift smooth and successful for everyone.
