According to security sources, India recently targeted the Noseri Dam structure at the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This act is being seen as a serious violation of international laws.
The attack reportedly happened around 2 a.m. and caused major damage to some critical parts of the dam. The intake gates of the de-sanders unit were hit, as well as an important hydraulic protection unit. An ambulance in the area was also damaged during the strike.
The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the incident and described it as a serious and deliberate attack on vital infrastructure. He highlighted that such actions are not only aggressive but also dangerous for regional peace and stability.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack and has called it a clear violation of international law. Officials stressed that targeting civilian infrastructure, especially in a peaceful region, shows irresponsible behavior and disregard for human safety.
The Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project is one of Pakistan’s key energy projects. Damaging it not only affects electricity generation but also puts thousands of lives and homes at risk. Experts say attacks like these are meant to destabilize the country’s development efforts and threaten its energy security.
Pakistan has also called on the international community to take notice of such aggression and hold those responsible accountable. Authorities have vowed to strengthen the security of critical installations and remain prepared to respond to any further threats.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of public infrastructure during rising tensions. People in nearby areas are being advised to remain alert, while repairs and security reinforcements are now underway at the damaged site.
