New Opportunity! US Announces English Access Scholarships For Pakistani Students

The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has introduced the 2024 English Access Scholarship Program, a transformative opportunity for Pakistani students aged 13 to 20. This program will provide 200 deserving students with free English language classes, aiming to enhance their academic, professional, and cultural horizons.

Speaking at the launch event, Consul General Scott Urbom expressed the U.S. government’s commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth through education. He highlighted how English proficiency opens doors to global opportunities and fosters cross-cultural understanding. The program will not only focus on language skills but also offer insights into American values and culture, enriching students’ perspectives.

The program is implemented in partnership with Evolution, with support from academic institutions such as Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, and Sindh Agriculture University, Umerkot. These partnerships aim to provide a strong foundation for students, combining academic excellence with practical skills.

Funded by the U.S. Mission’s Regional English Language Office in Pakistan, the two-year program offers a mix of afterschool and intensive classes. It is specifically designed for talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the tools to succeed in a globalized world.

Graduates will also have a better chance of participating in future U.S. exchange programs. Since 2004, over 8,000 students from Sindh and Balochistan have benefited from the Access program, which continues to play a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
