Four major housing projects in Bahria Town Lahore have been left without electricity after the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) disconnected their power supply.
Lesco says the action was taken because the projects failed to pay outstanding electricity bills that now total more than Rs 682 million. The unpaid amount had been pending for a long time, leading the company to finally take strict action.
The power cut has caused anger and worry among residents. Many families said they were not informed beforehand and were shocked when their homes suddenly lost electricity.
People explained that the outage has created serious difficulties, especially for households with children, elderly members, and patients who depend on electrical appliances.
Residents have announced that they will hold a protest in front of the Bahria Town offices after Friday prayers. They argue that they pay their electricity charges regularly to the housing administration, and it is unfair for them to suffer because the management did not clear the dues with Lesco.
Lesco CEO Muhammad Ramzan Butt confirmed that the housing projects repeatedly failed to settle their bills despite several reminders. He stated that electricity will only be restored once all outstanding payments are cleared.
Lesco officials added that warnings were issued over time, but no steps were taken by the management to resolve the issue.
The situation has created concern and uncertainty among residents, who fear that the problem may continue if immediate action is not taken. Many are demanding transparency from Bahria Town management and a quick resolution so life can return to normal in the affected areas.
