Scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) have created a humanoid robot named Pibot. This robot can fly a jet without needing big changes to the plane’s cockpit.
Pibot is about five feet tall and can control the flight and make sure the plane stays steady. It can react quickly to problems, even faster than human pilots.
The robot can read airplane manuals and understand them. It can also change the way it works to fit different cockpits. They made Pibot by changing the controls that already exist and by learning from how pilots fly.
Pibot is meant to be used in places where it’s not safe for people to fly planes. It might be used by the South Korean military around 2026. They’re also thinking about working with Airbus to test electric planes.
