Pakistan has introduced a new rule that will change the way citizens apply for jobs overseas. From 19 November, any Pakistani planning to work in another country must complete a mandatory registration process before travelling.
The government says this step is essential for protecting workers and keeping track of those seeking employment abroad.
Under the new policy, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has linked all foreign work permissions to a digital platform. Without completing this registration, no worker will receive the required approvals to leave the country for employment purposes.
This means that individuals heading to Gulf countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman must now follow this system before applying for their protector stamp or other documentation.
Officials explain that the decision was taken to reduce cases of illegal travel, fraudulent job offers, and exploitation by human traffickers. By collecting worker information in advance, the government hopes to create a safer more transparent process.
The system requires applicants to enter personal identification, travel details, education records and information about their expected job abroad.
The rule is expected to influence thousands of Pakistanis who rely on overseas work to support their families back home. For many young people seeking better incomes, this registration will now be the first and unavoidable step in their journey.
Authorities insist that the new requirement is not meant to create hurdles but to ensure that every Pakistani leaving for overseas employment is properly documented, protected and traceable. They also urge all applicants to complete the registration early to avoid delays in their travel plans.
