NASA’s Artemis missions aren’t expected to bring back human boots to the Moon until at least 2025, but Nokia is already planning to put 4G internet on the Moon.
Nokia declared that NASA had chosen it to create the first cellular network on the moon in 2020. After almost three years, Nokia is now trying to complete the task.
By the end of this year, Nokia hopes to have 4G internet operational on the moon, according to news sources from CNBC. The company with headquarters in Finland will rely on SpaceX rockets to transport the necessary tools to the Moon.
The network will work from a base attached to a Nova-C lunar lander. A solar-powered rover developed by Lunar Outpost will also be delivered as part of the mission.
