Now you can challenge Wrong Challans in Punjab, Check Details!

In a major relief for vehicle owners across Punjab, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a new digital system that allows citizens to challenge incorrect e-challans online. The move is aimed at eliminating the need for long queues and repeated visits to traffic offices—a process that was previously time-consuming and frustrating for many.

The new initiative, announced through a campaign highlighted by PakWheels, is part of the PSCA’s broader goal to improve transparency and efficiency in traffic management. The system now enables residents to dispute erroneous e-challans by simply sending an email, saving them from unnecessary legal hassles and personal inconvenience.

Addressing Common Errors

The PSCA acknowledges that mistakes in e-challan issuance can and do happen. Common errors include incorrect license plate readings, mistaken vehicle identification, or fines issued for incidents in which the vehicle owner was not involved. In the past, getting such issues corrected required a physical visit to traffic authorities, along with multiple documents and follow-ups. The new system replaces all of that with a much simpler process.

How to File a Complaint

If a citizen believes they have received an incorrect e-challan, they can now lodge a complaint by sending an email to [email protected]. However, to ensure the complaint is processed quickly and effectively, the email must contain three key pieces of information:

  1. A Clear Photo of the E-Challan – The image should be sharp, with all the printed details visible.
  2. Vehicle’s Registration Number – This helps the PSCA identify the correct vehicle and challan record.
  3. A Brief but Clear Explanation of the Issue – The email should explain why the citizen believes the challan is incorrect, with as much precision and clarity as possible.

What Happens After the Complaint?

Once the complaint is received, the PSCA’s team reviews the case. If the error is verified, the wrongly issued e-challan will be canceled. This new streamlined approach is expected to provide timely relief to vehicle owners and improve trust between the public and traffic authorities.

By launching this online complaint system, Punjab joins the growing global trend of digitizing public services and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy. It reflects the PSCA’s commitment to using technology not only for traffic enforcement but also to protect the rights of citizens.

The system is already being welcomed by many residents, particularly those who have previously struggled with disputing incorrect fines. It is hoped that this move will further improve the overall efficiency of traffic enforcement in the province, while also ensuring accountability and fairness.
