The fact that he has published the most albums of any qawwal (125 to be exact) is the most compelling evidence of that assertion.
He is widely mentioned as the world’s greatest Sufi vocalist in Punjabi and Urdu, as well as the world’s greatest qawwali singer.
He is also known as “Shahenshah-e-Qawwali” (the King of Kings of Qawwali). In 2016, LA Weekly named him the fourth greatest vocalist of all time.
Due to his exceptional capacity to perform at a high intensity for hours, this “king of qawwali” participated in musical experimentation with both Indian and western performers.
