OGDCL Discovers Gas Reserves in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab

OGDCL has announced an important gas discovery at its exploratory well, Chak 202-1, located in District Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab Province.

The well was drilled on June 29, 2024, and has successfully tested a production of 6.15 million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) of gas. This marks the second consecutive gas discovery in the Mari East Block, highlighting the ongoing success of OGDCL’s exploration efforts in the region.

This discovery underscores OGDCL’s strong commitment to tapping into the hydrocarbon resources of the Mari East Block. The company’s robust exploration strategy, supported by its in-house expertise and advanced technology, has been key to making this significant find.

The newly discovered gas reserves are expected to play an important role in helping to meet Pakistan’s growing energy demands, thereby narrowing the gap between supply and demand.

This gas discovery is not only a major boost to OGDCL’s hydrocarbon reserves but also a positive development for the country’s energy sector as a whole.

It opens up new possibilities for further exploration and production in the area, strengthening Pakistan’s energy security. With this new source of natural gas, Pakistan can reduce its dependency on imported fuels, which will help stabilize the country’s economy and energy supply.
