The Wali exploration block near Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has discovered massive gas and oil deposits, according to the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).
The discovery is being hailed as the most significant in the province in the last ten years. They are also thought to be the same size as or larger than the Nashpa block in Karak, KP, which has 95 million barrels of oil and gas reserves.
OGDCL has discovered reserves in the Wali-1 exploratory well, as per a reliable source. Kawagar, Hungu, and Lockhart are the names of three formations found in the well.
However, the Wali-1 well, once developed, will have the potential to produce 36 mmcfd of gas and 2,950 barrels of oil per day.
