Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority Islamabad (OGRA) Announces Job Positions in Pakistan

The Cabinet Division, Islamabad, has announced a vacancy for the position of Member (Gas) in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). This high-profile role is open to qualified and experienced professionals seeking an opportunity to contribute to Pakistan’s natural gas sector.

Position Overview

The role of Member (Gas) involves overseeing critical aspects of Pakistan’s natural gas industry, including its transmission, distribution, and regulation. The successful candidate will play a key part in introducing international best practices and restructuring the natural gas sector in Pakistan.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: An engineering degree (16 years) in a relevant field, preferably an M.Sc.
  • Experience: A minimum of 20 years of experience in the natural gas sector, including at least 5 years at a senior level.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of technical standards, service standards, and tariff regimes related to natural gas pipelines.
  • Industry Insight: Demonstrable understanding of Pakistan’s natural gas sector, including current challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Age Limit: Maximum age of 62 years as of the closing date of applications.

Pay Scale and Benefits

The position falls under the MP-1 Scale (Median), offering a competitive package of salary and benefits. Selected candidates currently serving in government or semi-autonomous bodies must resign or seek retirement before assuming the position.

Tenure

The selected Member (Gas) will initially serve a three-year term. Subject to performance and age constraints, the tenure can be extended for an additional four years, with a maximum age limit of 65 years.

Ineligibility

Applicants will be disqualified if they have any direct or indirect financial interest in the oil and gas sector that could lead to a conflict of interest.
