Pakistan’s IT industry is losing more than one million dollars every hour due to frequent internet shutdowns, according to Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA).
He emphasized that for the government to achieve its $15 billion target for IT exports, it must ensure stable internet infrastructure, easier market access, supportive tax policies, and a skilled workforce. Without these essentials, the industry will struggle to reach its full potential.
Syed pointed out the sector’s remarkable 40% growth in recent years, which has already increased IT exports to $3.2 billion. He highlighted the return on investment in the sector, explaining that spending just one dollar on improving market access could generate $49 in revenue.
He concluded by stressing the need for consistent internet access and business-friendly policies. These measures are critical for Pakistan to unlock its IT sector’s potential and establish itself as a key player in the global tech market. With the right support, Pakistan’s IT industry could drive significant economic growth and create countless job opportunities.
