Travel across the Gulf is about to become easier than ever. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is preparing to launch a new unified tourist visa that will allow travelers to visit six countries the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain using just one visa. The initiative, known as the GCC Grand Tourist Visa, is expected to start its pilot phase by the end of 2025.
The idea behind this single-entry permit is to simplify travel within the Gulf region, making it more attractive for global tourists who wish to explore multiple destinations in one trip.
Once launched, visitors will be able to apply online through a dedicated digital platform, reducing paperwork and travel barriers between member states.
Officials say the new visa will mark a turning point for tourism in the region. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, called the project a “key milestone in regional cooperation” that will boost economic growth and strengthen cultural ties among Gulf countries.
He highlighted that the UAE’s tourism sector has already seen major progress, with over 39,000 commercial licences now active in travel-related industries a 275% rise since 2020.
The unified visa is also expected to benefit hotels, airlines, and tourism businesses across the GCC, encouraging longer stays and more spending.
With this step, the Gulf nations are positioning themselves as a single, connected travel destination much like Europe’s Schengen area. By late 2025, one visa could be all travelers need to experience the beauty, culture and hospitality of six vibrant countries across the Arabian Gulf.
